Rep. Malliotakis Calls on Cuomo to Be Held Accountable for COVID Response
Rep. Nicole Malliotakis stated on Newsmax on Wednesday that while the nation may be moving on from the coronavirus pandemic, congressional Republicans are still pushing for accountability regarding former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s actions during that time. Malliotakis, a New York Republican and member of the House Select Committee on the Coronavirus Pandemic, highlighted concerns about Cuomo’s decision to allow COVID-19 patients into nursing homes during the peak of the pandemic, resulting in the deaths of 15,000 seniors.
The committee recently subpoenaed Cuomo for answers, as he has avoided speaking to them for the past two years. Malliotakis emphasized the importance of accountability and preventing similar tragedies from occurring in the future.
In other news, the White House lifted its COVID-19 testing requirement for individuals in close contact with President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and their spouses. Malliotakis commented on the shift in policy, noting that the Democrats in control are moving on from pandemic protocols.
Malliotakis also discussed her decision to invite NYPD Lieutenant Ben Kurian, who was recently attacked by migrants in Times Square, to the State of the Union address. She aimed to showcase the challenges faced by law enforcement and criticized Biden’s immigration policies that led to the attackers being in the U.S.
Malliotakis highlighted the stark differences in approach between Biden and former President Donald Trump, emphasizing that Trump prioritized public safety and law enforcement over parole for potentially dangerous individuals.
