Rep. Mike Lawler describes Pelosi and Schumer as ‘Disgraceful’ in their handling of Netanyahu

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., have been criticized for calling for regime change in Israel by Rep. Mike Lawler, R-N.Y., who told Newsmax that it is “disgraceful” and “unbecoming.”

Lawler expressed his concern that Pelosi, Schumer, and others are prioritizing electoral politics over U.S. national security interests by demanding Netanyahu’s resignation, which he believes is akin to foreign election interference that they often condemn.

He emphasized the importance of the U.S. standing with Israel during these challenging times and criticized the calls for Netanyahu to step down as undermining Israel’s defense.

Recently, Pelosi and Schumer have both called for Netanyahu to resign, prompting discussions about the situation at Columbia University where Rep. Mike Lawler and House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., are addressing anti-Israel protests.

Despite rumors that former President Donald Trump may join the discussion at Columbia University, Lawler clarified that he has not received confirmation. He emphasized his stance against antisemitism and violence on college campuses, advocating for swift action against perpetrators.

Lawler also introduced legislation to combat antisemitism on college campuses, proposing penalties for schools that fail to protect Jewish students and staff.

In addition, Lawler criticized President Joe Biden for taking cues from figures like Sen. Bernie Sanders and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez while equating the plight of Jewish and Palestinian students, highlighting the responsibility of Hamas for the Palestinian people’s hardships.

Lawler emphasized the need for pro-Hamas protesters to demand the release of hostages and surrender from Hamas instead of targeting Jewish individuals in America.
