Rep. Mooney tells Newsmax: Biden and Democrats lack strength in condemning antisemitism

Rep. Alex Mooney, R-W.Va., stated in an interview with Newsmax on Friday that President Joe Biden and other Democrats have been hesitant in condemning pro-Palestinian protests on college campuses, leading to a surge in antisemitism.

During a speech on Thursday, Biden mentioned, “There should be no place on any campus, no place in America for antisemitism or threats of violence against Jewish students.” However, he also grouped antisemitism with Islamophobia and discrimination against Arab Americans and Palestinian Americans.

“They’re just very weak,” Mooney stated on “The Chris Salcedo Show.” He emphasized that the issue at hand is antisemitism and anti-Israel sentiments, not Islam. Mooney emphasized that the current situation involves Hamas terrorists invading Israel and holding hostages.

Mooney was one of 187 Republicans who supported the Antisemitism Awareness Act, which passed in the House with a 320-91 vote. The act addresses the protests on college campuses against Israel’s conflict with Iranian-backed Hamas terrorists in Gaza.

“All we’re saying is don’t attack and kill Jewish people because of their faith,” Mooney expressed. “Israel has a right to defend themselves in this war imposed upon them, and they are defending themselves justly.”

Mooney highlighted the presence of intentional misinformation causing antisemitism and hatred to spread widely.

“These are professional protesters,” Mooney stated. He criticized their efforts to destabilize America and its allies like Israel and England. He commended the universities and law enforcement for taking action against the individuals causing disruption on college campuses.
