Rep. Moran Tells Newsmax: ‘Disagreement’ on Vacating Speakership
Rep. Nathaniel Moran, R-Texas, expressed his disagreement with Rep. Majorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., on the call to remove Rep. Mike Johnson, R-La., from the speakership, in an interview with Newsmax.
During an appearance on “Saturday Agenda,” Moran distanced himself from Greene, supporting Johnson and emphasizing the need for unity within the Republican Party.
“I completely disagree with Ms. Greene’s statement about Speaker Johnson. He is a genuine conservative and a strong advocate for border security, like the rest of us,” Moran said.
Greene filed a motion to vacate during a House vote on the $1.2 trillion bill to fund the government, which President Joe Biden signed Saturday.
“I voted against the package yesterday because it lacked sufficient border policy changes that we need,” Moran explained.
“We need to be unified in the Republican Party. We don’t have to think alike, but we must be united. This distraction from our goal needs to stop,” he added.
“The more we support Speaker Johnson, the better chance we have of achieving our desired outcomes through negotiation.”
