Rep. Owens Tells Newsmax: Democrats Have Neglected the Border Issue for Years

Rep. Burgess Owens, R-Utah, pointed out that Democrats were absent from addressing border crossings at the beginning of Joe Biden’s presidency, only becoming invested now due to it being a national issue and with the presidential election approaching.

In an interview on Newsmax’s “Carl Higbie: FRONTLINE,” Owens highlighted the sudden attention from Democrats as a response to the growing problem at the border.

Senate Republicans recently blocked a bill aimed at limiting asylum claims at the U.S.-Mexico border, showcasing the ongoing political divide on immigration and border security issues.

Owens criticized Democrats for allowing illegal immigration to persist and mentioned their eagerness to pass a border bill now, although they could have supported HR 2, a bill introduced by House Republicans last year to reinstate Trump-era immigration policies.
