Rep. Rosendale Urges Newsmax: Advance Appropriations Bills immediately
Representative Matt Rosendale, a Republican from Montana, is urging the House of Representatives to adhere to the plan of passing separate appropriations bills to control government spending. He emphasized that this method had not been followed in previous years, with the government functioning on omnibuses and continuing resolutions instead. Rosendale stated that as part of the speaker debate earlier in the year, rules were established to have a more open process and to bring forward the 12 appropriation bills. However, there are concerns that only two bills will be advanced this week, potentially leading to a last-minute rush before the October 1 government shutdown deadline. This is intensified by the fact that Congress will be out for the month of August. In July, the members of the Freedom Caucus sent a letter to House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, demanding that all 12 appropriations bills be reviewed before voting. Rosendale’s call to action aligns with the aim of these caucus members to thoroughly assess government spending.
