Rep. Scott Perry tells Newsmax that criticism of him on House Intel is unfounded.
Rep. Scott Perry, R-Pa., believes he and Rep. Ronny Jackson, R-Texas, are highly qualified for the House Intelligence Committee appointments given to them by House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La.
“Rep. Jackson and I have extensive experience in national security, possess top secret military clearances, and are well-suited for this role,” Perry stated in an interview with “Newsline” on Newsmax.”
“These accusations are just political attacks without any basis in fact. This is the swamp trying to avoid scrutiny of the issues important to the American people. Rep. Jackson and I are honored to serve on the committee and are committed to ensuring our intelligence agencies operate effectively and within constitutional boundaries.”
Johnson is facing pressure from Democratic members of the panel over the appointment.
Rep. Chrissy Houlahan, D-Pa., expressed concerns in a letter to Johnson, stating that the appointment of unfit members poses a risk to national security and democratic norms.
In response, Perry emphasized the importance of holding Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt for failing to provide necessary evidence.
