Rep. Tenney Urges Newsmax: Strong Evidence Supports Conviction of Gitmo 5
Rep. Claudia Tenney, a Republican from New York, believes that there is sufficient evidence to try and convict five remaining Guantanamo Bay prisoners who are suspected of being involved in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Tenney and a bipartisan group of 34 Congress members signed a letter to President Joe Biden, urging him not to remove the possibility of the death penalty in exchange for plea agreements. Over 2,000 family members of 9/11 victims also wrote to Biden, asking him to stop attempts to prevent public trials and keep information hidden. Tenney expressed sympathy for the families, who have been waiting for justice for over two decades, and stressed the importance of a fair military proceeding where victims can be present.
