Report: Evidence Suggests that One Juror May Side with the Defense
There is a real possibility of a hung jury in former President Donald Trump’s New York criminal trial.
Just one skeptical juror could lead to a mistrial.
According to The Bulwark’s Marc Caputo, Trump’s legal team is focusing on a juror who may prevent a guilty verdict.
“There are eight people on that jury who definitely hate Trump. If there’s one person who doesn’t, it’s [this] juror,” a court attendee told Caputo.
Caputo described the juror as showing some signs of agreement with the defense and reacting positively to Trump’s supporters who have appeared in court.
Sen. J.D. Vance, R-Ohio, and other high-profile supporters of Trump have caught the juror’s attention.
“There’s one juror that people are worried about and I share the worry,” said Democrat former Justice Department official Harry Litman on X. “Can’t identify her or him per judge’s orders but seems less engaged and slightly irritable.”
Despite the speculation, predicting jury decisions remains uncertain.
Jury deliberations are expected to start after receiving instructions from the judge on Wednesday. Trump is facing 34 felony counts of falsifying business records, punishable by up to four years in prison. He maintains his innocence and has pleaded not guilty.
