Report: Senior White House Advisers Attempted to Force Out Jean-Pierre
Reports have emerged suggesting that some of President Joe Biden’s top aides were secretly planning to replace Karine Jean-Pierre as White House press secretary by encouraging her to resign, a claim that the White House has dismissed as “wildly false.”
Last fall, concerns were raised about Jean-Pierre’s performance as press secretary, with allegations that she didn’t effectively promote Biden as he prepared for his re-election campaign. There were also complaints that she didn’t fully grasp her role and relied too heavily on briefing notes. As a result, senior advisor Anita Dunn reportedly sought to push her out by enlisting others to persuade her to resign.
Despite these claims, White House deputy press secretary Andrew Bates denied the allegations, stating that Karine was never approached with such a message and that both Jeff Zients and Anita Dunn have been supportive of her throughout.
Even though efforts were allegedly made to find Jean-Pierre a graceful exit, sources suggest that she has no plans to leave and remains committed to staying in her role. Issues surrounding her performance, particularly her reliance on notes during media interactions, still persist.
In December, Jean-Pierre turned down an offer to become president of EMILY’s List, reaffirming her commitment to President Biden and asserting that she is not going anywhere.
