Representative Burgess tells Newsmax that it is important for constituents to push for Mayorkas impeachment

Constituents should pressure their representatives in Congress to vote to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, Rep Michael Burgess told Newsmax on Tuesday.

The Texas Republican, who is vice chair of the House Rules Committee, which voted to advance the impeachment for a full House vote, told “Wake Up America” that “this is a terrible situation that the secretary has placed us in. His inability to enforce the law, his inability to perform to his oath, to protect the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic … the secretary seems indifferent, he seems immobile and that is the inherent problem that we have.”

Burgess stressed that “people are anxious for us to do something about this dreadful problem that they see going on, playing out on their television screens night after night after night … the person who is responsible for this is the secretary of Homeland Security. I hope constituents will weigh in with members and encourage them to do the right thing.”

When asked about the bipartisan Senate border bill that was unveiled earlier this week, Burgess said that “what was needed was a border security measure, not an immigration reform … we have got a security problem, front and center. That’s what needs to be fixed. After that’s fixed, should we have a discussion about immigration? Well, perhaps so, but let’s stop the problem that needs to be fixed.”

Burgess emphasized that this bill is not needed, as “the president has the power to shut the border down today … It can be controlled, there just has to be the will. It’s not a priority of the administration. … It is up to the president, it is up to him to take care that the laws are faithfully executed.”
