Representative Mace Calls for ‘Commonsense Measures’ in Ukraine Legislation on Newsmax
According to Rep. Nancy Mace, House Republicans are working on incorporating “common sense measures” into the proposed funding bill for Ukraine and eliminating existing loopholes. In a recent interview on Newsmax, Mace disclosed that she submitted 11 amendments addressing various issues within the bills scheduled for a vote on Saturday.
Mace emphasized the importance of ensuring that the amendments are relevant to the bill to pass through the Rules Committee. She mentioned a loophole in the bill that would allow a president to forgive any loans to Ukraine, which she aims to strike down. Additionally, Mace introduced an amendment to rescind IRS spending allocated for sending funds to Ukraine.
She stressed the necessity of having representatives at the table to improve the bill before the vote on Saturday, mentioning the push for border security measures related to foreign aid. Mace also proposed amendments to a border bill, including the Violence Against Women Act, with a provision for immediate deportation of immigrants who commit violent acts against women.
Mace also commented on this week’s Senate hearings involving Boeing safety issues, expressing the importance of protecting whistleblowers like Sam Salehpour, a Boeing quality engineer. She emphasized the need for ensuring the safety of Americans when flying.
