Representative Mace, Citadel’s First Female Graduate, to Deliver Commencement Address

Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., is set to deliver the commencement ceremony address at The Citadel this Saturday, marking 25 years since she became the first female cadet to graduate from the military college in South Carolina.

Back in 1999, Mace graduated magna cum laude with a degree in Business Administration.

Currently, women make up around 13% of the Corps of Cadets.

Mace’s historic accomplishment not only shattered barriers but also paved the way for future generations of women. Her achievement served as a source of inspiration, encouraging numerous female cadets to pursue their own Citadel diplomas in the years that followed,” notes her office in a press release.

The commencement ceremony will take place at the McAlister Field House.
