Representative Mace Tells Newsmax: We Are Not Allocating Funds for Infrastructure

Following the tragic collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore on Tuesday, Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., expressed concerns about the allocation of funds in infrastructure bills. She mentioned that not enough money is being spent on improving roads and bridges, emphasizing the need for smarter investments.

“It was truly alarming,” Mace stated in an interview on Newsmax’s “Wake Up America.” “Watching the video of the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse this morning was shocking, especially seeing the entire bridge give way due to a single point of failure.”

She extended her sympathies to the families impacted by the incident and raised questions about the state of infrastructure in the country. Mace emphasized the importance of maintaining top-notch infrastructure to prevent such disasters from occurring in the future.

When asked about the lack of investment in roads and bridges despite substantial funds being allocated for infrastructure, Mace criticized the spending trend. She highlighted that a significant portion of the funds in recent bills went towards initiatives like the Green New Deal, leaving minimal resources for essential upgrades to roads and bridges.

Mace called for accountability from both Democrats and Republicans, attributing the nation’s spending issues to both parties. She emphasized the need for voters to demand better financial practices from their elected officials to avoid further economic challenges.
