Representative McCaul Criticizes Schumer’s Israel Call as Inappropriate and Embarrassing
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer’s call for Israel to hold new elections and his criticism of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was deemed “very inappropriate” by House Foreign Affairs Committee Chair Michael McCaul on Sunday. McCaul, a Texas Republican, stated on “Fox News Sunday” that it is not suitable to talk about toppling a government in a democracy. He emphasized the need to address differences respectfully without aiming to overthrow a democratically elected government.
McCaul highlighted the divide within the Democratic Party, expressing concern over a faction that appears to be more pro-Palestinian and anti-Israel. He also defended Israel’s military operations in Rafah, clarifying that they are targeting high-value individuals and not planning an invasion. He praised Israel for neutralizing key Hamas leaders and anticipated a positive shift once the top leadership is eliminated.
Regarding the proposed $50 million in support for Haiti, McCaul criticized the White House’s failed policies and warned against providing cash and weapons without proper governance. He advocated for caution in distributing funds to ensure they reach the intended recipients and avoid empowering hostile factions.
