Representative McCormick tells Newsmax that GOP is ‘Unified’ in Support of Trump

Representative Rich McCormick, a Republican from Georgia, spoke to Newsmax on Friday and stated that Republicans are firmly backing former President Donald Trump after his recent visit to the Capitol.

Trump visited Capitol Hill on Thursday for the first time since January 6, 2021, and held a closed-door meeting with congressional Republicans.

In an interview with “National Report” the day after Trump’s visit, McCormick said, “I think we’re pretty unified” in support of the presumptive Republican presidential candidate.

McCormick expressed confidence in winning the presidency, stating, “I haven’t seen anybody sit this one out. I think everybody is on board with winning the presidency. We know how important it is to getting done what we need to get done in the next two years.”

He also mentioned the high likelihood of Republicans winning the Senate in the upcoming general election and a strong chance of expanding their presence in the House.

Regarding Trump’s visit, McCormick described the former president as “charming in person” and noted how he reached out to lawmakers who may have had past conflicts with him, which helped ease tensions.

McCormick emphasized the importance of unity within the party, acknowledging that it’s okay to have differing opinions on certain issues.
