Republican Members of the Senate Judiciary Committee Back Subpoenas for Epstein Documents

Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee are united in support of efforts by Sen. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., to acquire records on former sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein.

Blackburn subpoenaed Epstein’s estate for unredacted flight logs, and the FBI for records pertaining to Epstein and his associate Ghislaine Maxwell.

“While redacted portions of Jeffrey Epstein’s flight logs and Ghislaine Maxwell’s black book have been released in various lawsuits, we need the complete and unredacted versions from his estate and the FBI,” Blackburn said in a statement.

“Senate Judiciary Committee Republicans are unified: it’s time to uncover this information and break apart these illicit sex trafficking rings. I will be demanding a vote on these subpoenas whenever possible at Judiciary Committee meetings until the American people get the full truth and victims get the justice they deserve.”

Blackburn is urging Chair Dick Durbin, D-Ill., to hold a vote on amendments for the subpoenas.

A federal judge unsealed the identities of about 170 Epstein associates as part of a long-running lawsuit between one of his accusers and Maxwell, his sex-trafficking partner, Business Insider reported.

Former President Bill Clinton and Great Britain’s Prince Andrew were among the names released.

“The American people deserve to know what happened regarding Jeffrey Epstein and prominent American business and political leaders,” said ranking member Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C. “I fully support and very much appreciate Senator Blackburn’s longstanding efforts to bring transparency to the Epstein debacle.

“In light of the recent revelations and court documents, I think this is more important than ever. I hope the Senate Judiciary Committee will act expeditiously, in a bipartisan manner, to issue these subpoenas in order to conduct oversight and investigate the allegations of rampant sex trafficking and abuse.”
