Republicans in the House are anxious to question the Special Counsel about Biden
House Republicans are reportedly planning to request testimony from special counsel Robert Hur regarding his bombshell classified documents report and to question him about President Joe Biden’s mental fitness.
This move is not surprising, as Attorney General Merrick Garland mentioned in October that special counsels usually testify at the end of their reports.
According to a report from Axios, Democrats are worried that Hur’s testimony could further damage Biden, especially after his strong response to accusations about memory lapses.
House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer, R-Ky., Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, and Ways and Means Committee Chair Jason Smith, R-Mo., have demanded that the Department of Justice turn over any transcripts, video, or audio of the Hur investigation by Feb. 19, according to a letter mentioned in the report from Axios.
House Republicans are also preparing to call Hur to testify in March, likely before the House Judiciary Committee, with the intention of questioning him about Biden’s fitness to lead, as per an unnamed source cited by Axios.
The White House spokesman on investigations, Ian Sams, stated that administration officials will consider releasing a transcript of Biden’s interview with Hur, possibly in a redacted version due to the classified topics involved, according to Axios.
