Reuters/Ipsos Poll Finds Half of Americans Believe Biden Received Special Treatment in Document Probe

According to a recent Reuters/Ipsos poll, over half of Americans believe that President Joe Biden received special treatment from federal prosecutors when they decided not to prosecute him for mishandling classified documents.

Out of the respondents in the four-day poll, which ended on Monday, 53% agree that Biden received special treatment due to his position as the U.S. president, 29% of which were Democrats.

About 46% of the respondents said they were somewhat familiar with U.S. special counsel Robert Hur’s comments and his suggestion that prosecuting Biden would be challenging due to his age and memory lapses, which Biden has since criticized.

The poll also revealed that 78% of respondents (including 71% of Democrats) think Biden, as the oldest person to occupy the Oval Office, is too old to work in government. In comparison, 53% of respondents consider Trump, who was president from 2017-2021, to be too old for government work.

The poll surveyed 1,237 U.S. adults nationwide between Feb. 9-12, with a margin of error of about 3 percentage points in either direction.
