Reuters Poll: Trump Takes 2-Point Lead in Race Following Verdict

Donald Trump, the Republican challenger in the U.S. presidential contest, has taken a slight lead over President Joe Biden in the race for the November election, according to a recent Reuters/Ipsos poll. Trump currently has the support of 41% of registered voters, while Biden has 39% support. The remaining 20% of voters are undecided or considering third-party options.

Trump’s lead is within the poll’s margin of error, indicating a close race with five months remaining until the election. A previous poll in May showed Biden with a 2-point lead over Trump. The latest poll also includes independent candidate Robert Kennedy Jr., who garnered 10% support.

Both candidates have faced criticism and challenges, with concerns over Biden’s age and his party’s internal divisions, as well as Trump’s recent criminal conviction related to a payment made before the 2016 election. Despite these issues, the poll found that many voters are not swayed by these factors in their decision.

The poll surveyed 930 registered voters online and highlights the ongoing uncertainty and dynamics of the upcoming election.
