RFK Jr. Attempts to Build Support by Capitalizing on Trump Verdict

Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is using former President Donald Trump’s guilty verdict in his New York trial to appeal to voters who may be undecided about the conviction.

Kennedy has criticized the verdict, suggesting that the trial was a political move to harm his opponent.

“This conviction will ultimately work against the Democrats. I believe that each time President Trump has been indicted, his approval ratings have actually gone up, his popularity has increased,” Kennedy told Fox News following the jury’s decision. Kennedy also contended that the constant investigations into Trump by Democrats are making them appear more political and partisan.

The verdict hasn’t appeared to slow down Trump. His campaign, alongside the Republican National Committee, raised $141 million in May. However, some supporters of Kennedy believe that it could benefit his campaign.

“There may be some independent voters who were leaning towards Trump, but now feel some fatigue, especially with the convictions. If Bobby can participate in the debates, it would be a great opportunity to reach out to these individuals,” a source close to Kennedy’s campaign stated.

Kennedy has directed his criticisms towards Democrats rather than Trump. He has made appearances on conservative media shows, like Fox News’ “Jesse Watters Primetime,” where he remarked that he does not want to “defeat Trump in a courtroom,” which appears to be a jab at President Joe Biden and the Democrats.
