RFK Jr Claims Trump and Biden are Suppressing American Freedoms
Robert F. Kennedy Jr., running as an independent candidate for the White House, criticized both Joe Biden and Donald Trump for disregarding the Constitution and infringing on Americans’ civil liberties. Speaking at the Libertarian Party’s national convention in Washington, the anti-vaccine activist condemned the presidents’ handling of pandemic-related health restrictions and threats to free speech. Kennedy called for electing leaders who value freedom and uphold the Bill of Rights, as he criticized both Trump and Biden for failing to protect these values.
Kennedy, a member of the prominent Kennedy family, decided to run as an independent after considering joining the Libertarian Party following an unsuccessful Democratic primary bid. While his chances of winning are slim, his candidacy has the potential to impact close races in key swing states, much to the concern of Democrats and Republicans.
Kennedy criticized Trump for imposing Covid lockdowns and enforcing social distancing mandates, as well as Biden for vaccine mandates and alleged collaboration with the FBI to censor Americans’ speech. He also took aim at Trump for the treatment of Julian Assange and pledged to drop the case against him and pardon whistleblower Edward Snowden if elected.
Kennedy, polling at around 10 percent, challenged Trump to a debate and highlighted his performance in hypothetical match-ups against Trump and Biden. He is on the ballot in seven states and has collected enough signatures for access in eight more states.
Trump, who is set to speak at the convention, has intensified attacks against Kennedy, viewing him as a potential threat to his campaign. However, Trump’s focus remains on Biden, whom he labeled as the worst president in U.S. history. Biden was also invited to speak at the convention but did not respond.
