RNC and Trump File Lawsuit Against Nevada for Accepting Mailed Ballots After Election Day

The Republican National Committee (RNC) along with the Trump campaign and the Nevada Republican Party are filing a lawsuit against Nevada Secretary of State Francisco Aguilar and other state officials to stop the counting of ballots that are received up to four days after Election Day.

“Nevada’s ballot receipt deadline violates federal law and undermines election integrity,” said RNC Chairman Michael Whatley. “Ballots received after Election Day should not be counted, and we are suing to ensure a fair election, protect Nevada voters, and oppose illegal practices.”

The Election Day is on Nov. 5.

In 2021, then-Governor Steve Sisolak of Nevada signed Assembly Bill 321 into law, expanding mail-in voting to all registered voters who now receive ballots by mail. The law also includes guidelines for counting absentee ballots, which is referenced in the lawsuit.

It is important to note that Nevada does not have a voter ID law, according to the RNC’s legal counsel.
