Rudy Giuliani criticizes New York Attorney General and Judge Engoron as being ‘Out of Control’ in interview with Newsmax

Rudy Giuliani told Newsmax on Friday there is nothing humorous about the multimillion-dollar judgment against former President Donald Trump given by a judge in a civil fraud case filed by Democrat New York Attorney General Letitia James.

“They’re completely out of control,” the former New York City mayor and federal prosecutor shared on “Eric Bolling The Balance.” “To get through it, we find humor in it. We chuckle when [President Joe] Biden stumbles. We laugh when these judgments are made. We laugh when we discover that the DA in Georgia [Fani Willis] is involved in criminal activities. She openly confessed — though it’s not getting much attention — that she embezzled money from her campaign funds.

“This is not a joke. Our democracy as a system of law, as a government run by laws, has been stripped away from us. You cannot have a justice system with two tiers and call it justice. It’s contradictory. Justice for one, but not for the other … we have lost the essence of being a country that should be respected as one governed by laws.”

Trump faces a deadline of Monday to pay the $454 million penalty, including interest, imposed by Judge Arthur Engoron, a Democrat incumbent who ruled in favor of the state in a civil fraud trial accusing the former president of inflating his assets to secure favorable loans. Trump has denied any wrongdoing; however, failing to pay the penalty while appealing could lead to the seizure of his assets.

To appeal, Trump, the potential Republican presidential candidate, must obtain a bond requiring him to post 120% of the owed amount as collateral — totaling a reported $557.5 million. Trump’s legal team has requested the Appellate Division of New York’s Supreme Court to delay the bond until his appeals process is completed.

“It is undoubtedly an attempt to illegally bar him from the presidency,” Giuliani remarked. “Every case against Trump is heard in a Democratic jurisdiction — often, I must add, in a corrupt Democratic jurisdiction, notorious for years of political corruption, crime, and electoral interference.”

Giuliani expressed disbelief at penalizing Trump in a case where there is no victim. The banks that testified on Trump’s behalf confirmed that his loans were repaid in full and on time. Giuliani proposed that Trump’s legal team file a motion in federal court to prevent James from seizing his assets due to the violation of his right to due process.

“This goes against the fundamental principles of the tort and crime of fraud developed over 800 or 900 years, which are based on losses,” Giuliani explained. “Property should only be seized through due process. They have demonstrated not just a lack of due process; it’s a criminal process.”
