Selection of Vice President Has Minimal Impact on Election Outcome, Says Trump
Donald Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, stated on Tuesday that the main qualification for his vice president pick is whether that individual would make a good president. He also mentioned that he does not anticipate a significant increase in votes from his choice.
In an interview with Spectrum News Wisconsin on Tuesday before his 13th day of trial in New York City, Trump reaffirmed that he plans to name his running mate around the time of the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee in July.
Trump expressed his belief that vice presidents do not have a significant impact on the election process, stating that they are usually just a one-day story. He emphasized the importance of choosing a vice president based on their ability to lead, especially in the event that something happens to the president.
When asked about South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem’s candidacy, Trump declined to comment directly but acknowledged that she had faced some challenges recently.
