Sen. Tuberville Tells Newsmax: Americans Were Deceived on Social Security

Senator Tommy Tuberville of Alabama expressed concerns about the future of Social Security during an interview on Newsmax on Tuesday. He highlighted reports of trillions of dollars in unfunded liabilities related to benefit programs.

“No, most people won’t receive Social Security,” Tuberville stated on “Carl Higbie FRONTLINE.” He criticized the system, calling it a tax imposed on Americans, promising to take care of their retirement.

The Daily Caller reported a significant increase in the amount Americans need to comfortably retire, with pensions facing funding deficits and unfunded liabilities across the states. The federal government also struggles with high unfunded liabilities related to benefit programs like Social Security.

Tuberville suggested that if individuals had invested their Social Security contributions in a 401k, it would have grown significantly. He criticized the federal government’s handling of money and expressed disbelief at President Biden’s proposed tax hikes.

Regarding the tax proposals, Tuberville said, “You can’t make this up…makes no sense whatsoever what they’re doing.” He suggested shutting down government operations until after the election to avoid harm to the country.
