Sen. Tuberville Tells Newsmax: Democrats Will Set Mayorkas Impeachment Aside

According to Sen. Tommy Tuberville on Newsmax, Senate Democrats are likely to table the House articles of impeachment against Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, despite the Senate’s obligation to hold a trial once charges are brought from the House.

Sen. Tuberville, an Alabama Republican, noted that this situation is unprecedented in Congress, as historically an impeachment trial would proceed if articles were transferred from the House to the Senate.

He mentioned that all Republicans will be on the Senate floor advocating for a point of order, but the Democrats are expected to vote to table the impeachment charges and move on to the next bill. Tuberville expressed frustration about the lack of focus on addressing issues at the American southern border.

Tuberville also discussed new legislation he is introducing to increase transparency regarding spending on abortions in Veterans Administration facilities. Despite laws prohibiting abortions in the VA, the administration has made changes to allow them without transparency on costs or numbers.

His legislation, the VA Abortion Transparency Act, aims to provide clarity on taxpayer funds allocated for abortions in the VA and highlight the illegal nature of these procedures. Tuberville emphasized the importance of informing the public about where their money is going.
