Senate Approves Brooke Rollins as New Agriculture Secretary – One America News Network

The Senate has voted decisively in favor of confirming conservative lawyer and policy advisor Brooke Rollins to helm the Department of Agriculture (USDA).

On Thursday, shortly after Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was confirmed as Trump’s health secretary, Rollins also received confirmation with a 72-28 vote.

Rollins is now appointed to guide the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), which focuses on addressing the requirements of “commercial farming and livestock food production,” while also encouraging “agricultural trade and production.”

The USDA also aims to guarantee food safety, protect natural resources, support rural communities, and combat hunger both domestically and internationally.

As one of her initial tasks, Rollins is expected to work on unifying Congress to pass a farm bill that has faced delays in recent months.

Before assuming her new role, Rollins spent 15 years leading the Texas Public Policy Foundation (TPPF) after serving as the policy director for Governor Rick Perry. She was the president and CEO of the America First Policy Institute (AFPI), which she co-founded during Trump’s first term, and also held positions as the director of the Office of American Innovation and the acting director of the Domestic Policy Council.

“In these [past] roles, she developed and managed the transformative domestic policy agenda of the Trump Administration, resulting in historic advancements for the American public,” as stated on her AFPI biography.

Rollins marks the 16^th of Trump’s nominees to be confirmed in under four weeks. During his initial term, Trump managed to have only 11 of his nominees approved by the Senate in a similar timeframe, confirming his 16^th pick on March 1^st.

This pace significantly surpasses that of Biden, who did not see his 16^th nominee confirmed until March 10^th.
