Senator Braun tells Newsmax: Blame for Border Crisis Does Not Lie with Trump
Senator Mike Braun from Indiana criticized the Biden administration on Tuesday for blaming former President Donald Trump for the challenges at the southern border and other legislative obstacles.
During an interview on Newsmax, Braun expressed disbelief at the administration’s position, stating, “I don’t know how you can say that with a straight face.”
In a February speech, President Joe Biden accused Trump of hindering a bipartisan immigration agreement, according to The New York Times.
Biden claimed that Trump was prioritizing politics over national security, preventing the bill from progressing in the Senate. He urged Republicans to stand up to Trump’s influence and do what’s best for the American people.
Appearing on “Rob Schmitt Tonight,” Braun criticized a bill that would have increased illegal immigration significantly.
He expressed concerns about the risks posed by higher levels of immigration, including the emergence of “gotaways,” undocumented immigrants who evade authorities.
Braun emphasized the need for accountability and warned that the Biden administration cannot escape responsibility for the border situation.
