Senator Britt tells Newsmax that IVF is crucial to the “Party of Life”
Sen. Katie Britt, R-Ala., stated in an interview with Newsmax that it is crucial to codify in vitro fertilization as a federally protected procedure. She emphasized the importance of this for American families and highlighted it as a top priority for the Republican party, the “party of life.”
Britt and Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, appeared on “The Chris Salcedo Show” to discuss their legislation aimed at safeguarding legal access to IVF in response to a controversial Alabama Supreme Court ruling earlier this year.
“Following the Supreme Court decision in Alabama, which had a chilling effect on IVF, I had numerous women approach me to share their IVF journeys, with some in the midst of these procedures,” Britt shared with Salcedo. “As the party of life and families, it was crucial for us to protect and uphold IVF moving forward.”
Cruz expressed how the Alabama Supreme Court decision led to a great deal of confusion and fear, emphasizing that IVF has played a significant role in bringing over 8 million babies into the world, representing 2% of all births in America. He described IVF as a technology that affirms life and helps parents.
