Senator Cruz says that the traditional beliefs about the Republican Party have shifted during Trump’s presidency
Former President Donald Trump has reshaped the Republican Party to represent the working class, according to Sen. Ted Cruz. The party’s image has shifted from being seen as the party of the rich to now being the party of blue-collar workers and working-class individuals, Cruz explained during an interview on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures.”
Cruz highlighted that today’s GOP is focused on supporting working-class men and women, while the Democrats are more aligned with wealthy coastal elites. He emphasized the importance of helping individuals climb the economic ladder, particularly those in professions where tips are a significant portion of their income.
In response to Trump’s recent advocacy for eliminating taxes on workers’ tips during his visit to Detroit, Cruz announced plans to introduce legislation exempting tip earnings from federal income tax. He underscored the significance of assisting people in achieving financial advancement.
Sharing a personal anecdote, Cruz mentioned his father’s journey from washing dishes to business ownership, IBM employment, and eventually becoming a pastor after immigrating from Cuba in 1957.
In contrast, Cruz criticized President Joe Biden for attending a high-profile Hollywood fundraiser that raised $30 million for his campaign. The event featured celebrities like Julia Roberts, George Clooney, and Barbra Streisand.
