Senator Cruz: Support for Israel and Ukraine Aid, Along with TikTok Ban, All Beneficial

Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, expressed support for legislation that would provide $60.84 billion to Ukraine, $26.38 billion to Israel, $8.12 billion to Taiwan, and implement a ban on TikTok in the United States, allowing for potential government censorship of a wider range of information.

During appearances on Sunday news talk shows, Cruz discussed the upcoming Senate vote on the bills, stating, “There’s a lot of support for the bill in the Senate.”

“I think it is quite likely to pass when it comes over on Tuesday. Look, there are elements of this bill that are good; there are elements of the bill that are not so good. The most important elements of the bill — the best parts of the bill are — number one, much-needed military aid for Israel.”

Following the Senate’s passing of the reauthorization of FISA, which allows for warrantless surveillance of Americans, Cruz raised concerns about Chinese spying in relation to the TikTok ban.

“There’s also, very important in this bill, is the TikTok prohibition,” he said. “I have deep, deep concerns about TikTok controlled by the Chinese communist government. I think the Chinese communist government can number one, use that for surveillance and espionage of American citizens. And, number two, use it aggressively to push propaganda — anti-American propaganda — to our young people. This bill is a major step forward in that it forces China to divest from TikTok.”
