Senator Fetterman Suggests Senator Romney Could ‘Moderate Left-Leaning’ Harvard

Senator John Fetterman, a Democrat from Pennsylvania, is fully supportive of the idea of Mitt Romney, a Republican Senator from Utah, becoming the next president of Harvard University to address the “far-left orthodoxy” present in the Ivy League school.

Fetterman expressed his endorsement of this idea on social media after it was proposed in a Washington Post op-ed by Daniel Rosen, a Harvard alum who identifies as a lifelong Democrat. Rosen’s op-ed titled “Harvard is in an almighty mess. Let Mitt Romney clean it up” suggested Romney as a candidate to lead Harvard through necessary reforms and combat antisemitism.

Referring to Rosen’s op-ed, Fetterman tweeted: “As an alumnus of Harvard, and after this mad season of antisemitism at Columbia, I co-sign. This former Governor of Massachusetts doesn’t need a paycheck, but Harvard and its academic peers needs [sic] to recalibrate from far-left orthodoxy.”

Mitt Romney is also an alum of Harvard University.

In the op-ed, Rosen highlighted the prevalence of antisemitism on campus and criticized the university’s response in addressing it. He mentioned a controversial congressional testimony by Harvard’s former President Claudine Gay and Romney’s previous letter condemning Harvard’s silence on rising antisemitism.

Rosen emphasized the importance of Romney’s moral courage and independence in addressing antisemitism, increasing Jewish student enrollment, and promoting tolerance among students.

Romney, who was the Republican presidential nominee in 2012, announced last year that he would not seek re-election to the Senate.
