On Wednesday, Senate Republicans rejected a bipartisan $118 billion border security package with a close vote of 49-50.
Vance highlighted the urgency of addressing the issue, especially in light of the 7.3 million illegal entries through the U.S. southern border since 2021. He expressed disappointment in President Biden’s lack of interest in solving the border crisis.
Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has been a target of criticism for the porous border, and Republicans unsuccessfully attempted to impeach him on Tuesday.
