Senator JD Vance tells Newsmax that Certain Republicans are Concentrating on Ukraine

Senator J.D. Vance, R-Ohio, expressed frustration with his Republican colleagues’ eagerness to move on from the defeated Senate border bill and focus on Ukraine instead. Vance emphasized the importance of prioritizing the issue of border security.

During an appearance on Newsmax, Vance discussed the political implications of the failed border bill negotiations. He criticized the secretive nature of the negotiations and the lack of time to thoroughly review the 370-page bill before the vote.

On Wednesday, Senate Republicans rejected a bipartisan $118 billion border security package with a close vote of 49-50.

Vance highlighted the urgency of addressing the issue, especially in light of the 7.3 million illegal entries through the U.S. southern border since 2021. He expressed disappointment in President Biden’s lack of interest in solving the border crisis.

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has been a target of criticism for the porous border, and Republicans unsuccessfully attempted to impeach him on Tuesday. Vance expressed disappointment in his House colleagues for not supporting the impeachment efforts, emphasizing the importance of unity in addressing the issue.
