Senator Johnson Tells Newsmax: American People Deserve Answers from Secret Service
Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., told Newsmax on Tuesday the Secret Service continues to not answer key questions about the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump.
“They’re not being transparent,” Johnson said on “Rob Schmitt Tonight.”
Johnson mentioned that a bipartisan Senate committee will be examining the shooting and aims to gather transcribed interviews from Secret Service personnel in the upcoming days.
“There are numerous unresolved questions that could have been addressed within days, not weeks,” Johnson stated. “It’s truly absurd. It is.”
The senator from Wisconsin is curious about how snipers missed spotting the alleged shooter, Thomas Michael Crooks, on top of a building.
“We shouldn’t have to ask these questions at this point,” Johnson remarked. “We should already have this information. We should know which sniper team took him out. We should already be questioning that Secret Service sniper. When did you first observe this individual? When did you target him? All of these inquiries remain unanswered.”
Johnson criticized federal agencies for disrespecting the American public and Congress.
“They can just evade responsibility with no consequences,” Johnson added. “They have been getting away with it for years now. This needs to stop. They need to realize they are answerable to the American public. And the way they are held accountable is through the representatives of the public, members of Congress.”
