Senator Josh Hawley calls for DOJ investigation into undisclosed funding of anti-Israel organizations

Senator Josh Hawley from Missouri is urging the Department of Justice to look into the funding behind the recent antisemitic protests on college campuses. Hawley sent a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland, requesting an investigation into the funding of these demonstrations, which he believes are not solely student-led.

In his letter, Hawley referenced a previous request for information on funding for pro-terrorist student organizations. He highlighted a recent report by Politico detailing the significant dark money subsidizing the campus protests, with groups like Jewish Voice for Peace and IfNotNow receiving support from organizations like George Soros’ Tides Foundation and David Rockefeller’s Rockefeller Brothers Fund.

Hawley raised concerns about the legality of this funding, citing IRS Revenue Ruling 75-384, which states that organizations cannot retain their tax-exempt status if they support protests involving acts of civil disobedience. He accused these dark-money groups of defrauding the American people and putting Jewish students and faculty at risk.

In his letter to the Attorney General, Hawley demanded answers on the current anti-Israel protests receiving third-party funds and called for immediate enforcement of IRS Revenue Ruling 75-384 against the groups sponsoring the ongoing violent protests on university campuses.
