Senator Lindsey Graham takes charge in bipartisan criticism of ICC, calls for sanctions

Senator Lindsey Graham from South Carolina has urged Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer from New York to introduce bipartisan legislation that would impose “crippling sanctions” against the International Criminal Court for seeking arrest warrants against Israeli leaders for alleged war crimes.

Graham, along with a bipartisan group of senators, issued a letter on Tuesday condemning the ICC’s actions against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.

Both Graham and Schumer strongly criticized the ICC after its decision on Monday, but Graham emphasized the need for action to support Israel and prevent future actions against American personnel.

In a social media post, Graham agreed with Schumer’s condemnation of the ICC’s actions and called for bipartisan support in imposing sanctions against the ICC to end the ongoing situation.

Senator Schumer spoke out against the ICC’s decision on the Senate floor, describing it as “reprehensible” and displaying a clear bias against Israel.

Graham and a group of senators released a joint statement criticizing the ICC for endangering efforts to achieve peace in the Middle East and creating a false equivalence between Israel and Hamas.

The senators highlighted the democratic nature of Israel compared to Hamas’ terrorist organization status and pledged to continue advocating for Israel and protecting American personnel from ICC actions.
