Senator Mullin tells Newsmax that the State Department is preventing people from leaving Haiti.

Senator Markwayne Mullin, a Republican from Oklahoma, revealed to Newsmax that someone within the State Department is preventing Americans from leaving Haiti, a decision he attributes to Secretary of State Antony Blinken, whom he describes as “the worst we’ve ever had.”

Despite having all necessary approvals from the Haitian government (or what’s left of it) and a partner organization to facilitate their departure, Mullin stated in an interview on “The Record With Greta Van Susteren” that one person at the State Department is obstructing their exit.

Mullin praised the efforts of HaitiOne, an organization based in Texas that specializes in operations within the country and assists in evacuating Americans, once the State Department cooperates.

“They have a proven track record in Haiti, and the State Department has worked with them in the past,” Mullin explained. “Unfortunately, with no one currently on the ground to rescue Americans, HaitiOne is unable to act. They have the expertise and knowledge to operate in Haiti, which is currently dangerous due to control by criminal gangs.”

Mullin recalled a similar situation in 2021 when the State Department hindered Americans from leaving Afghanistan, demonstrating a pattern of failure to assist citizens in crisis situations.

“We can coordinate with on-ground partners to conduct rescue missions, but Secretary Blinken’s lack of urgency to prioritize American lives is troubling,” Mullin emphasized.
