Senator Rand Paul Tells Newsmax to Acknowledge That Covid Originated from a Lab

According to Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., speaking with Newsmax on Tuesday, Dr. Anthony Fauci and the National Institute of Health are trying to cover up the origins of COVID-19 and avoid admitting that it may have been generated in a lab.

During an appearance on “Prime News,” Paul stated that they are behaving similarly to China by withholding information and preventing access to data.

“We never expected our own government to engage in similar behavior,” Paul remarked.

Paul accused Fauci and the NIH of attempting to distance themselves from any involvement in research conducted at a Wuhan lab, where he believes COVID-19 originated.

“We are aware that they funded potentially dangerous research,” Paul stated. “Various government agencies and groups of scientists have raised concerns that the virus may have come from the lab.”

Despite this, Fauci continues to reject claims that gain of function research was being conducted at the Wuhan lab, according to Paul.

“Even the acting head of the NIH contradicted this claim,” Paul added. “By any definition of gain of function research, it was being conducted.”

Paul pointed to Fauci’s private emails which express his concern that the virus originated in a lab.

“Publicly, Fauci dismissed these claims,” Paul noted. “He went as far as to publish articles refuting the idea that the virus was lab-made. Now he seems to be changing his tune, which is concerning because it increases the risk of a similar situation happening again.”

Paul warned that dangerous research is taking place in labs worldwide that could lead to even more devastating pandemics than COVID-19.

“It is important to acknowledge the possible lab origin of COVID-19 and the risks associated with such research,” Paul emphasized.

He also stated his intention to propose legislation that would provide oversight over dangerous laboratory research.
