Senator Ron Johnson Urges Newsmax to Choose Fiscal Conservative as Leader

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s decision to step down from his party leadership position this autumn presents an opportunity for Senate Republicans to set goals, strategize for the future, and select a more fiscally conservative leader, according to Sen. Ron Johnson in an interview on Newsmax Saturday.

“Coming from the private sector,” the Wisconsin Republican told “America Right Now” on Newsmax, “it is essential to have a mission statement, establish goals, and ensure that everyone in the organization understands their role in achieving the mission and goals.”

Johnson expressed his desire for a more fiscally conservative leader to take over the Senate leadership role.

He highlighted the significant increase in national debt since McConnell took the helm nearly two decades ago, noting the current debt of over $35 trillion compared to less than $10 trillion back then.

“This lack of strong fiscal conservatives at the forefront is a major concern for the Republican conference,” Johnson remarked. “We have witnessed a substantial rise in spending over the past four years, and we must adopt a stronger fiscal conservative approach to counter the free-spending Democrats.”

Johnson criticized the dysfunction in Congress, attributing it to the presence of bureaucrats without private sector experience and ineffective organizational structure.

Despite acknowledging McConnell’s accomplishments, especially in shaping the Supreme Court, Johnson stressed the need for Republicans to counter the policies of the left that are damaging the country.

Several potential successors for McConnell’s role have been identified, with Johnson expressing support for Sen. Rick Scott based on his impressive background and leadership skills.

He emphasized the importance of the selection process and developing a clear direction for the Republican conference moving forward.
