Senator Tom Cotton believes that President Trump is in favor of Ukraine’s survival and strength.

There have been discussions suggesting that Donald Trump, the presumed Republican presidential nominee, could take a tougher stance on Ukraine, according to Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark. He believes that Trump’s so-called “rhetoric” is actually a strategic move to bring about a peaceful resolution and restore global security during his administration, despite criticism from the left.

Cotton pointed out that Trump oversaw peace and stability for four years, which European leaders and Democrats may not have liked. However, Cotton argues that this approach was necessary to address foreign leaders who had been relying on American military strength without contributing. He believes that under a Trump administration, European leaders will once again invest in their common defense.

Cotton also highlighted Putin’s restraint in reconstituting the old Soviet Union during Trump’s presidency, compared to past invasions that occurred when Democrats were in power. He emphasized that Trump provided weapons to Ukraine to defend against Russian invasion, a move Obama and Biden had previously declined.

Cotton attributed Putin’s aggression in Ukraine to Biden’s perceived weakness following the Afghan withdrawal, insinuating that this vulnerability emboldened Putin to consider seizing Ukrainian territory. Despite certain narratives, Trump has expressed support for Ukraine against Russian aggression, while also calling for Europe to take more responsibility in the region.

In a Turning Point Action speech aired on Newsmax, Trump reiterated his support for Ukraine’s survival and strength, while also advocating for greater European involvement. Cotton echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the need for a return to peace and stability seen during Trump’s presidency.

Regarding the possibility of serving as Trump’s vice president, Cotton expressed interest but remains committed to his role as a senator. He acknowledged that if the president were to offer a position, he would consider it, but emphasized his current dedication to representing Arkansas and working towards repairing damage caused by the Biden administration.
