Senators Demand Explanation on Migrants and Delivery Services

A group of Republican senators has raised concerns about the infiltration of potentially dangerous immigrants into food delivery services like Uber Eats, DoorDash, and GrubHub. These immigrants are reportedly obtaining Americans’ personal information, including home addresses.

Sens. Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee, Mike Braun of Indiana, and Ted Budd of North Carolina sent letters to the CEOs of these companies, attributing the issue to President Joe Biden’s open border policies. They stated that “millions of illegal immigrants” have entered the country and are now residing in cities.

According to the letters, these immigrants are using questionable networks to make money, including by using active food delivery accounts to deliver meals to Americans’ homes without undergoing background checks or using their real names.

Last year, a New York Post report revealed that unvetted drivers were using other people’s accounts to deliver food for a share of the payment. Similar incidents were reported with DoorDash and GrubHub as well.

The senators highlighted the safety risks of untraceable individuals delivering food late into the night without any accountability. They emphasized the importance of cracking down on this underground system of illegal work to protect American consumers, especially women and the elderly.

While acknowledging the convenience and accessibility of food delivery services, the senators stressed the need to inspire consumer confidence and ensure the safety of users. They emphasized the importance of protecting the gig economy, while also maintaining security measures to prevent unauthorized individuals from delivering food.
