Shen Yun ‘Returns US Back to Who We Are’: Business Owner

MIAMI, Fla.—Noura Salman, the owner of a nutrition bar business, knows that she’s not supposed to take photos as she watched Shen Yun Performing Arts, but there were moments when she really wished she could.

After attending Shen Yun’s matinee performance at the Adrienne Arsht Center on Dec. 31, Ms. Salman thought the show was “extremely refreshing and positive,” and a wonderful way to start the new year.

“It was beautiful. It was elegant. The dancers’ faces are so peaceful and proud and calm,” she said. “It’s very rare to see adults with that purity.”

Founded in 2006, the New York-based Shen Yun is the world’s leading classical Chinese dance and music company. According to its website, much of China’s 5,000 years of culture was destroyed by decades of communist rule.

Prior to the regime’s takeover, China had a rich cultural heritage deeply rooted in the divine.

Ms. Salman thought Shen Yun’s portrayal of this spirituality was very powerful. “They had a message about divinity, that it’s a choice between the good and the bad, and that we’re all here from the heavens,” she said.

“We have to remember where we came from. Now we’re all getting distracted by the evolution of humanity. We need to go back to our roots and realize that we’re all angelic. We have to return back to that state—our natural state,” she added.

During the performance, Ms. Salman noticed big changes in the audience and was very impressed by how quickly it happened.

“If you were to look at the audience members at the beginning of the show and at the end, you can see the transformation in their energy and in the smiles on their faces,” she said.

“You can see people that went from being very tense and distracted to being extremely focused and joyous. That alone I thought was magical.”
