Small Plane Plummets Near Retirement Community, Several Injuries Reported – One America News Network

A small aircraft has crashed in the parking lot of a Pennsylvania retirement community, resulting in injuries to at least five people on board.

Authorities report that the plane, carrying five individuals, went down in Brethren Village, Manheim Township, shortly after its departure from Lancaster Airport at 3:15 p.m.
“A Beechcraft Bonanza encountered difficulties and crashed in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, around 3 p.m. local time on Sunday, March 9,” stated the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). “Five passengers were onboard. An investigation will follow.”
Audio from air traffic control shared on social media captures the moment the pilot informed ground agents of the need to return due to an open aircraft door.
At one instance, the pilot is heard expressing difficulty in hearing radio communications due to wind noise from the unsecured hatch.
“Pull up… the aircraft is down just behind the terminal in the parking lot tree area,” the overwhelmed air traffic controller urgently instructed.
Governor Josh Shapiro (D-Pa.) announced that the investigation into the crash is ongoing, with emergency services currently active at the site.
“Our Pennsylvania State Police team is on-site assisting local first responders following the small private plane crash near Lancaster Airport in Manheim Township,” Shapiro stated on X.
“All Commonwealth resources are accessible as the response continues, and additional information will be provided as it becomes available,” he added.
Officials have yet to provide details regarding the number of possible injuries or fatalities.
