Snoop Dogg Shows ‘Nothing but Love and Respect’ for Trump, Says ‘He Has Only Done Great Things for Me’
Snoop Dogg has expressed his “nothing but love and respect” for Donald Trump.
The rapper’s unexpected remarks come after a feud with the former president in previous years.
In an interview with the British newspaper The Times, Snoop Dogg said, “Donald Trump? He ain’t done nothing wrong to me. He has done only great things for me.”
He also referenced Trump’s pardon of Michael Harris, the co-founder of Snoop’s first label, Death Row, who was in prison on drug offenses, according to The Independent.
“So I have nothing but love and respect for Donald Trump,” he concluded.
Contrary to his current sentiment, Snoop Dogg had publicly criticized Trump’s views in the past. In 2017, he released a controversial music video for “Lavender,” which featured him pointing a gun at a clown resembling Trump. The video sparked backlash from the former president, with Trump demanding an apology and even suggesting Snoop be arrested.
That same year, Snoop Dogg released a track titled “Make America Crip Again,” a play on Trump’s campaign slogan, “Make America Great Again.”
In a statement at the time, Snoop Dogg explained his motives behind the track, expressing his desire to reclaim a time when young Black men in impoverished areas organized to help their communities in the face of societal neglect.
