Special Counsel Met with White House Official prior to the Indictment of Trump Docs

According to White House visitor logs, a member of special counsel Jack Smith’s team met with a Biden administration official shortly before former President Donald Trump was charged with mishandling classified documents. This suggests a possible coordinated legal effort aimed at Trump, who is seen as a front-runner for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination. The meeting took place between Jay Bratt, a member of Smith’s team, and Caroline Saba, deputy chief of staff for the White House counsel’s office. This is the third time Bratt has visited the Biden White House, raising concerns about coordination between the Biden administration and the special counsel’s team. Former NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani believes that the Biden and special counsel teams are coordinating the prosecution of Trump. Law professor Jonathan Turley also finds the meeting troublesome and questions whether it is related to the ongoing investigation or some other matter. A spokesperson for the special counsel said that Bratt visited the White House for a “case-related interview.”
