Special Prosecutor Nathan Wade Faces Lawsuit from Former Spouse
Special prosecutor Nathan Wade, who withdrew from the Georgia election interference case involving former President Donald Trump, is now facing legal claims from his ex-wife. She alleges that he has failed to pay child support for their two adult children and neglected to assist with urgently needed medical procedures.
Jocelyn Wade, in a recent divorce filing, stated that her ex-husband’s failure to provide the agreed-upon payments as per their divorce settlement has left her family without funds for rent and her essential medical treatment, as reported by The New York Post.
“Defendant urgently requires medical procedures, including an endoscopy, colonoscopy, and ultrasound, due to severe physical symptoms she has been experiencing. These symptoms have significantly impacted her ability to eat most foods, resulting in considerable weight loss,” the new filing in the Superior Court of Cobb County, Georgia mentioned.
These accusations come shortly after Wade resigned as the lead prosecutor in the Georgia case against Trump. His co-defendants had accused Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis of having a romantic relationship with Wade before appointing him to their team, as well as of misusing state and federal funds.
Wade stepped down following a ruling by Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee in March, stating that Willis and her office could only remain on the Trump case if Wade agreed to step down as special prosecutor.
The Wades finalized their divorce settlement in January after being married for 26 years. Nathan Wade denied any romantic involvement with Willis until he was brought into the Trump case.
In the court filing, Wade’s ex-wife claimed that he failed to abide by an out-of-court agreement they had reached to prevent him from testifying about Willis. She alleges that she exhausted her savings for medical procedures after her ex-husband stopped supporting their children and instructed them to seek funds from her.
As a result of the sudden halt in support, Jocelyn Wade stated in the documentation that her income has dropped to below $1,000 per month, as her health condition prevents her from working.
Additionally, Wade reneged on promises to provide financial support to their son, who is pursuing a soccer career in Europe, and refused to continue funding their daughter, a medical student preparing for her MCAT exam, according to his ex-wife’s filing.
The filing further stated, “Demonstrating Defendant’s unwavering commitment to her children’s education and future, she promptly covered her daughter’s rent payment and has continued to do so every month thereafter with the money she receives in spousal support granted to her under the Temporary Order and Agreement.”
