State Senator Lippincott tells Newsmax that Nebraska has potential to become a winner-takes-all state

State Sen. Loren Lippincott told Newsmax that Nebraska Republican lawmakers are attempting to change how the state allocates its electoral votes to transition Nebraska into a winner-take-all state before the upcoming general election in November.

Presently, two electoral votes are distributed based on the overall popular vote, while the remaining three are allocated based on the winner of the popular vote in each of the state’s congressional districts.

During an interview on “Saturday Agenda,” Lippincott, R-Central City, mentioned that a bill such as Legislative Bill 764 might be introduced if Republican Gov. Jim Pillen calls for a “summer session.”

Lippincott added that at least “two” votes from members of the Democratic Party are needed to avoid a filibuster against the winner-take-all bill.
