Newsmax is reporting on six primaries scheduled for Tuesday, including the crucial Republican Senate competition in Montana. Tune in to Election Ticker and Election Desk coverage starting at 8 p.m. ET.

Aside from Montana, New Jersey, Washington, D.C., Iowa, New Mexico, and South Dakota are all holding primaries on Tuesday. Polls in New Jersey, D.C., and the eastern part of South Dakota close at 8 p.m. ET; Iowa, New Mexico, and the western part of South Dakota close at 9 ET; Montana polls close at 10 ET.

Tim Sheehy, supported by Republican presumptive presidential nominee Donald Trump, is facing off against former Secretary of State Brad Johnson and Charles Walking Child in Montana for the chance to challenge incumbent Democrat Sen. Jon Tester in November.

Montana is one of the key Senate races in November that will determine whether Republicans can regain the majority in the upper chamber. With West Virginia set to go Republican due to the retirement of Democrat Sen. Joe Manchin, the Senate will be at 50-50. Republicans need one more victory to prevent the tiebreaking vote of the vice president in case Trump loses in the general election.

Additionally, in Montana, eight GOP candidates are vying to succeed retiring Rep. Matt Rosendale in the 2nd Congressional District. State Auditor Troy Downing is leading in the polls, followed by Elsie Arntzen and Ken Bogner. Rosendale chose not to endorse any candidate.

New Jersey’s focus on Tuesday is on Sen. Bob Menendez, his son Rep. Rob Menendez, and President Joe Biden against the “uncommitted” vote. Andy Kim is expected to secure the Democratic nomination to replace Sen. Menendez. However, the elder Menendez is anticipated to run as an independent in November. Rep. Menendez is facing a tough challenge from Hoboken, New Jersey, Mayor Ravi Bhalla in the 8th Congressional District.

In Iowa, incumbent Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks is being challenged by David Pautsch in the Republican primary in District 1. Miller-Meeks narrowly defeated Democrat Rita Hart in 2020. Pautsch is endorsed by Mike Lindell and Mike Huckabee.

In Iowa’s 3rd District, Republican incumbent Rep. Zach Nunn is awaiting the Democratic primary winner between Lanon Baccam and Melissa Vine. Incumbent Republican Rep. Randy Feenstra is expected to defeat his challenger in Iowa’s 4th District, Kevin Virgil.
