Stay Updated with Newsmax’s Coverage of Tuesday’s Primaries

Newsmax is providing coverage of four state and local primaries on Tuesday, including the crucial Republican Senate contest in Nevada. Live results will be available starting at 7 p.m. ET on Newsmax and Newsmax2.

On Tuesday night, primaries are also being held in South Carolina, Maine, and North Dakota. Polls in South Carolina close at 7 p.m. ET, with live results from Maine beginning at 8 p.m. ET and at 9 p.m. ET in Nevada. Polls in North Dakota close at 10 p.m. ET for the central time zone and 11 p.m. ET for the western part of the state.

The spotlight is on the crowded GOP Senate primary in Nevada, where retired Army Capt. Sam Brown is aiming to secure a victory with the support of former President Donald Trump. Brown is also backed by Senate Republicans, including Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, as he seeks to challenge Democratic incumbent Sen. Jacky Rosen in November.

Nevada is among the Senate races in November that will determine whether Republicans can regain the majority in the upper chamber. With West Virginia likely to go Republican due to the retirement of Sen. Joe Manchin, the Senate is currently tied at 50-50. Republicans need to win one more race to avoid a tiebreaker, if necessary.

Rosen’s seat in Nevada has been targeted by the GOP as a potential victory. Now, it is a matter of determining who will emerge as the challenger.

Brown’s main GOP opponents on Tuesday night are former U.S. ambassador to Iceland Jeff Gunter and Jim Marchant, who ran for Nevada secretary of state in 2022. In total, 13 candidates are competing for the Republican nomination. Brown is a veteran of Afghanistan, where he sustained injuries from an improvised explosive device.

Rosen faces two challengers in the state’s Democratic primary.

In South Carolina, Rep. Nancy Mace is facing a tough primary challenge in District 1. Conservative Catherine Templeton is running on endorsements from former House speakers Kevin McCarthy and Newt Gingrich. Mace is seeking a third term with the support of Trump.

In South Carolina’s Third District, eight Republicans are vying to succeed outgoing Rep. Jeff Duncan, who announced he would not seek reelection in January.

In Maine’s District 2, GOP voters will select a nominee to challenge Democratic incumbent Rep. Jared Golden in the general election. State Rep. Austin Theriault, a former NASCAR driver endorsed by Trump and House Speaker Mike Johnson, is the frontrunner.

In North Dakota, Republicans will nominate a candidate to replace outgoing Gov. Doug Burgum, who is also on Trump’s list of potential vice presidential candidates. Rep. Kelly Armstrong is favored to win on Tuesday, although Lt. Gov. Tammy Miller has Burgum’s endorsement.
